If Christ truly cam to set us free, AND HE DID!, why does it seem like Christianity is defined by all these rules we have to follow?

cIt is easy for our human nature to make faith about following a set of rules, because that can feel safer than following a living, unpredictable Creator who seeks us intimately. Our Jesus is more about love than the law (Matt. 22:40) and came to set us free (Galatians 5:1). Why is the law important then, and what does grace fully mean?
