A covenant is essentially a contract between two parties, each promising to fulfill their part of the contract. For example, God made a covenant with Abraham–that from Abraham would come a great nation that would bless the world. God also made a covenant with Moses–that if you obey My laws, I will bless you. The Galatian church was confused about which covenant they should be following. This confusion still exists in many Christian minds today. Paul compares the two covenants and explains their value.
